MCDONALD’S has added deep-fried churros to its value menu.

They will be served alongside quarter pounders, McFlurrys and McNuggets for less than a pound.

The sweet Mexican pastry is deep fried, making it chewy and crunchy, before it’s rolled in cinnamon sugar.

Churros are thought to be the brainchild of Portuguese sailors who traveled to and from China.

In modern times the snack has spread across the world becoming massively popular in the USA and a common sweet treat at British street food markets.

But there’s a catch: If you want the sugary pastry snack you’ll have to take a 5,500 mile trip around the world – to South Korea.

The fast food giants launched the sweet treats with a musical advert showing an opera singer getting happy customers to take a bite of his churro.

This isn’t the first time Ireland has missed out on special McDonald’s treats.

Japanese customers were given the carbonara burger, while Canadian McD’s once offered a lobster roll.

Other weird and wacky alternatives to a Big Mac around the world include McD Chicken Porridge in Malaysia and McSpaghetti in the Philippines.

Meanwhile India is home to a completely meat-free McD’s, and many European outlets will let you buy a pint with your quarter pounder.
